The class will take place on three Saturdays. With the first workshop foundations, specifically regarding screenwriting for science fiction movies, will be given and through practical exercises, so that the students will develop a firsthand understanding of screen writing. The second workshop is for developing a story (including brainstorming ideas on technologies and use cases including challenging story constellations. Here also the scenario technique might be used and script constellation), and during the third workshop we will finalize the story so that it can be submitted to the conference. The workshops demand imagination and willingness to explore and develop screenwriting skills. We will also discuss moviemaking and storytelling with camerawork and editing as well in order to foster a broader understanding of screenwriting. The main objective is to create a good story by using screenwriting.
Workshop 1: 04.05 from 10am to 3pm,
Workshop 2: 18.05 from 10am to 3pm,
Workshop 3: 29.06 from 10am to 3pm.
The class also includes homework that has to be done during the time in between the workshops. Weekly the result of an exercise should be uploaded to Stud.ip and each participant will get feedback.

With the movie "A Day Made of Glass" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-GXO_urMow ) a ceramics manufacturing company communicates their concepts of the future of glass, where glass becomes intelligent. This movie visualizes and explores the potential for interactive features enabled by a combination of glass enhanced by computer technology. The genre of science fiction explores in a playful manner visualizations of future technologies. Especially science fiction movies challenge the set designers to imagine and invent ideas of future technologies and potential use cases. For inventing new technologies the fantasy of designers and engineers are shaped by visualizations in science fiction movies. For a couple of years developers have been experimenting with this genre, broken down to narrative scenarios for visualizing concepts and as prototypes to explore and specify interactive features. Beside this futurists and researchers who reflect new technologies are interested in science fiction to communicate the potential of imagined solutions to developers. Currently a conference is exploring science fiction as prototypes of future technologies, especially these technologies could be implemented in our everyday life.
The topic of this class is screenwriting for science fiction movies. After an introduction we will practice screenwriting with small exercises and carry on with writing of a science fiction story on new technologies embedded in future social use case. This can be use of new technologies in future schools or visualizing of interactive features of advanced technologies in educational contexts. By the end of the semester we could decide to submit the results to the "Creative Science London" a conference for exploring educational innovations by creative prototyping.
